Trail of Tear Ride 2007

We had a wonderful ride this year. We did about 800 miles over the 3 days.

We all left Friday morning and rode over to Cherokee NC for the Group ride to Thunder Creek H-D in Chattanooga TN. It rained on us basically the entire way down there, but we had a good time. Tom had problems with his motorcycle at the last minute, so he just pulled the camper ahead of us. When we arrived at the camp site Friday evening, he had dinner cooked for us when we got there - very nice.

Saturday was the big ride. The weather was beautiful and the ride rode along pretty quickly. This portion of the ride is escorted (leading/following along with the pack, blocking traffic, etc.) by police (and they have a helicopter or three flying over top); they shutdown a section of I-65 in AL for us at one point. It's a weird feeling to pass a cop at 80 MPH and just look over and wave at him. At one point (on Hwy 72 just east of Huntsville I believe) we hit 114 MPH.

Sunday was nice as well. We had 300 miles to ride home, so we took the interstate most of the way (we picked up I-40 just East of Nashville).

We're already making plans to attend next year.

And one of the guys in the group that I was with (there were 10 of us on 7 motorcycles) is thinking about starting a motorcycle club. He's thinking about the name "Heaven's Devils" since "Hell's Angels" is already taken. :-)
